As part of its national Nursing Home Staffing Campaign, launched last month, CMS issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity seeking applicants to administer financial incentives, such as tuition reimbursement and stipends, to RNs to work for three years in a qualifying nursing home or as inspectors with a state survey agency.

Providers are encouraged to connect with the WIO serving their region about specific next steps for their organization and how their organization and current staff might benefit from the CPT Program.

The law, enacted as part of the 2024-25 State Budget, requires employers to provide 20 hours of paid prenatal personal leave during any 52-week calendar period for health care services during pregnancy, including physical examinations, medical procedures, monitoring and testing, and discussions with a health care provider related to the pregnancy.

Long-term care employers will continue to receive criminal histories of prospective and current employees under the "Clean Slate Act," which took effect this month.
