MRT 2 Deadline for Proposals Extended; Second Meeting Scheduled for March 10th in NYC
The Medicaid Redesign Team 2 (MRT 2) is moving forward with identifying sources of savings to close a Medicaid budget gap of $2.5 billion by April 1st. It will hold its second public meeting on March 10th in New York City. Scores of savings and reform proposals have been submitted through the online portal, and the deadline for submissions has been extended until 11 a.m. on March 4th. In addition, four public comment forums have been held in different locations around the state.
The MRT 2’s second public meeting will be held at 11 a.m. in the John E. Reeves Great Hall at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) at 218 West 28th Street, New York, NY 10001. A live webcast of the meeting will be available on the MRT 2 webpage.
In addition to receiving proposals through the portal and in public comment meetings, the MRT 2 is consulting with a Long Term Care Advisory Group named by the Department of Health (DOH). The Advisory Group has met twice to discuss options for reducing Medicaid spending on long term care services.
The MRT 2 is expected to deliver a report to the Governor with Medicaid savings recommendations in advance of the April 1st deadline for the State budget. More information about the MRT is available here and here.
