LeadingAge National to Continue Proposed Nursing Home Staffing Mandate Discussion Sept. 21st

In a continuing discussion of proposed federal minimum staffing ratios for nursing homes, LeadingAge National will host a member-only webinar on Thurs., Sept. 21st at 2 p.m. The event will feature several LeadingAge members from across the country sharing their strategies and experiences dealing with state-specific staffing mandates, while LeadingAge staff will discuss advocacy and action items. Members can access the registration link here. A summary of the proposed federal requirements is available here, and a recording of the member Town Hall LeadingAge held on Sept. 7th is available here. Members can access all of the resources, including a data tool listing facility compliance with the proposed mandates based on 2023 data, on the section of the LeadingAge website dedicated to the staffing proposal here, while a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document is here.

We urge members to review the summary of the proposed rule, to consider the impact the mandate would have on their organization if implemented, and to share comments directly with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) or through LeadingAge before the Nov. 6th due date. We will be sharing additional resources to assist in submitting comments shortly.
