State's Minimum Nursing Home Staffing Standards Take Effect Despite Statewide Health Care Staffing Emergency

The Governor extended the health care staffing emergency, but lifted the freeze on enforcement of nursing home staffing mandates. As a result, certain staffing flexibilities were continued, but nurse and aide minimum staffing levels took effect on April 1st. LeadingAge NY is providing members with resources to respond to the requirements.

Proposed Regulations Published on Nursing Home Minimum Direct Care Spending and Minimum Nursing Staff Hours

The Department of Health’s (DOH) proposed regulations setting minimums for nursing home direct care spending and nursing hours per resident day were published for comment in the Nov. 17, 2021 issue of the New York State Register.
