Some nursing homes that requested penalty reductions have received requests for additional information on their efforts to recruit staff and maintain resident safety.

Article 28 providers are urged to maintain documentation when making use of the limited exceptions to the prohibition.

Comments on proposed federal nursing home staffing mandates are due Nov. 6^th.

While certain provisions would be effective soon after the proposed rule is finalized, most nursing homes would have two to three years to come into compliance with federal staffing requirements.

Most nursing homes that received non-compliance notices will have to submit their requests for redetermination or penalty reductions on Thursday, Aug. 17.
