OMIG Releases Guidance on Compliance Program Certifications
The New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) has released a new guidance document describing who may complete the required certification stating that the provider has implemented a compliance program that meets the requirements of Part 521 of Chapter 18 of the New York Code, Rules and Regulations. This "certifying official" must be the person to whom the compliance officer reports on the activities of the compliance program and must be the chief executive officer, a senior executive designated by the CEO to whom the compliance officer reports, or a member of the governing body to whom the compliance officer periodically reports. The compliance officer may not complete or submit this certification.
