Nursing Home Members:  SNF PPS Comments Due June 10th

(May 27, 2025) We remind members that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is accepting comments on the proposed Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Medicare payment rule until June 10th, 2025. As outlined here, the proposed rule (CMS-1827-P) would increase nursing home Medicare Part A base payments by 2.8 percent, although hospital-based wage index updates would reduce or negate the increase in several regions of the state. We urge members who may be concerned about the adequacy of the increase, the appropriateness of using a hospital wage index that may have little to do with costs that nursing homes are experiencing, PDPM Code Mapping, potential QRP measures, and especially those who may have recommendations for specific oncology treatments that should be shifted outside of consolidated billing to submit comments directly to CMS.  We would be happy to include any points members would like to make in our comments as well. LeadingAge National has developed a helpful tip sheet to assist those interested in submitting comments. Members may access that resource here.
