CMS Publishes 2026 Medicare Beneficiary Cost Sharing Amounts

(Nov. 18, 2025) On Nov. 14th, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the premiums and cost sharing amounts that Medicare beneficiaries will face in calendar year 2026. Each year, the Medicare Part B premium, as well as Part A and B deductible and coinsurance rates, are determined according to provisions of the Social Security Act. Most glaringly, standard, monthly Medicare Part B premiums are slated to increase by 9.7% from $185 to $202.90. This is in contrast to the Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2026, which will be 2.8%. Note that Medicare beneficiaries with modified adjusted gross income above $109,000 (joint incomes above $218,000) are subject to income-related monthly adjustment amounts that increase their premium. The CMS 2026 tables are available here. Medicare Part B covers physicians’ services, outpatient hospital services, certain home health services, durable medical equipment, and certain other medical and health services, including nursing services, not covered by Medicare Part A.

The Medicare Part A coinsurance for skilled nursing facility days 21 through 100 will increase from $209.50 to $217.00, a 3.6% bump, while the inpatient hospital deductible will increase by $60 to $1,736.

The CMS press release that lists all of the premium and cost sharing amounts for Medicare Part A, B, and C beneficiaries is available here.
