Waiting Game Continues for Nursing Homes

The Department of Health (DOH) now anticipates that nursing home rate adjustments that were expected to be made in December and January will be made near the close of the state’s fiscal year, which ends Tues., March 31, 2015. The adjustments include the 2013 Nursing Home Quality Initiative, reconciliation of the 2012 cash receipts assessment, Jan. 1, 2015 Medicaid rates and the release of the five percent CMI constraint for 2013. We have and will continue to communicate our concern regarding these delays.

The release of the final scores for the 2014 Nursing Home Quality Initiative is also expected soon, but without a firm date. Nursing homes were provided preliminary scores in the Fall of 2014, but final scores are still outstanding. DOH indicated that an e-mail will be sent to all nursing homes when the results are posted. We will continue to monitor developments with these adjustments and scores, and will let members know as soon as firm dates are set.
