State Medicaid Spending Remains Below Cap

Statewide Medicaid spending was 0.5 percent lower than projected according to the November 2013 Medicaid Global Spending Cap report.   Outpatient/emergency room services, pharmacy and personal and home care service expenditures showed the largest variance between actual and projected, all lower than expected.  Medicaid managed care spending was 0.9 percent above projections driven by a quicker transition into MLTC plans than anticipated.

Overall Medicaid enrollment grew by 102,068 enrollees, an increase of 1.9 percent from March 2013 through November 2014, while Medicaid managed care enrollment increased by 3 percent.  The state collected $173 million in outstanding Medicaid accounts receivable during this period leaving a balance of $227 million.
