OMIG Starting 2013 MDS Audits

Nursing homes will begin receiving notices of impending Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) MDS audits starting mid-May. The audits will focus on January and July 2013 MDS assessment submissions. As in previous audits, OMIG will inform the home in advance about the records to be reviewed and report any discrepancies found to Department of Health (DOH) for recalculation of the Medicaid rate. At the same time, OMIG and DOH are processing audits of 2012 MDS submissions and expect to make retroactive rate adjustments based on those audits in July.

DOH has completed the 2011 cash receipts assessment reconciliation calculations and hopes to make payments/recoupments in June.  The 2012 assessment reconciliation is scheduled for August 2014.
