OMIG Auditing Health Care Worker Bonus Payments

(Aug. 13, 2024) We remind employers who received healthcare worker bonus funding for the fifth and final vesting period that they should distribute the bonus payments to workers within 30 days of receiving it. Although it seems to have come with little notification, many providers saw the staffing funding in Medicaid checks released on Aug. 1. Any undistributed funding needs to be disclosed to the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) using the process outlined here and returned.

Please be aware that OMIG has begun provider audits of the healthcare worker bonus program which include a significant document request. We ask that members who receive an audit letter let us know. Whether audited or not, providers should make sure that documentation regarding the program is complete and that any overpayments have been disclosed.

Health care workers with payment questions should speak to their employer. Eligibility questions are addressed in the Frequently Asked Questions document posted on the state’s dedicated website here
