Nursing Home Roster Verification Deadline Is Dec. 31st
Although Dec. 31st is the date by which nursing homes must complete the process of verifying that the correct Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessment is matched with each resident listed on their Jan. 29th census roster, the Department of Health (DOH) is requesting that providers complete the verification and submit the associated operator's certification as soon as possible. The process provides the data that will be used to calculate the case mix adjustments for the July 2020 Medicaid rates. It is critical that the steps required to compute case mix index (CMI) and calculate rates are completed on schedule to help ensure that this rate update is not delayed past the end of the State’s fiscal year.
Signed certifications should be submitted by email to MDSBRHCR@health.ny.gov. More information on the roster verification process with links to the Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) and other resources is available here. The direct link to the attestation form is here.
We urge members to verify that each resident is matched with the appropriate MDS and to submit the certification (signed by the Administrator or Commissioner) at your first opportunity. The roster verification is not complete until the certification is submitted. Members and DOH staff report that the process is going well, but please contact us if you have questions or encounter difficulties.
