Nursing Home MDS Roster Submission Starts April 4th

Nursing homes will need to upload their Jan. 27, 2016 MDS census rosters between Apr. 4th and Apr. 29th. The Department of Health (DOH) is reminding homes that all MDS data for the Jan. census must be submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and accepted by March 25, 2016, if it is to be reflected in the home's Case Mix Index (CMI) calculation. The notice DOH issued is copied below.

Please keep in mind that all residents listed on the Jan. 27, 2016 census roster must have an assessment submitted, even if not required by regulation. Residents listed on the roster for whom there is no MDS assessment match in the CMS database, will be presumed to be a Medicaid patient and be defaulted to the lowest RUG category for purposes of the CMI calculation.
