Four Things Nursing Homes Must Remember
Nursing homes are reminded that RHCF Medicaid cost reports along with required certifications are due July 15th. Accuracy on staffing-related schedules are especially important as these will be used for the state's Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI) scoring while the schedules related to staff turnover and retention will be used in determining eligibility for this year's Advanced Training Initiative funding. The cost report software is available on the HCS and the accompanying Dear Administrator Letter can be accessed here.
Covered providers must file their Executive Order 38 (EO-38) Administrative Expenses/Executive Compensation Disclosure Report within 180 days of the end of the covered reporting period or by the date that their Medicaid cost report is due, whichever is later. The EO-38 overview guide that provides information on reporting requirements and links to other EO-38 materials is available here.
Homes need to collect staffing data in a format that will facilitate reporting to CMS to meet Payroll Based Journal (PBJ) requirements starting July 1st. Members should be familiar with the requirements, be adjusting their systems to ensure compliance and make test submissions prior to the Nov. deadline for the first mandatory submission. The CMS PBJ Manual is available here. An archived version of a free webinar presented on June 16th by McKnight's, OnShift and Diversified Health Partners can be accessed by clicking here and selecting "Register for the Webinar".
Finally, DOH requests that homes complete and submit a brief survey on transportation costs by June 27th. Accurate submissions may help decrease the amount that the state would otherwise subtract from the nursing home Medicaid rate to carve out medical transportation. More information on this issue is available here.
