DOH Implements Nursing Home Capital Cut

(Dec. 23, 2024) On Dec. 19th, the Department of Health (DOH) notified nursing home providers that April 2024 Medicaid rate sheets have been posted on the Healthcare Financial Data Gateway section of the Health Commerce System (HCS). These rate sheets incorporate the 10 percent cut to the capital rate, effective April 1, 2024, that was enacted in the 2024-25 State Budget. Payment adjustments retroactive to April 1st will be reflected in Medicaid payment cycle 2471, which is scheduled for release on Jan. 15, 2025.

Please note that this cut is in addition to the existing 5 percent reduction to capital reimbursement in place since 2020. Pediatric units are exempt from the new cut. While the cut also applies to Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) rates, that cut will be implemented at a later date. Members may recall that the cut is subject to a legal challenge; we will reach out to members with additional information in the coming days. The associated Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) is available here.
