DOH Activates Advanced Training Initiative Application
Last week, the Department of Health (DOH) issued a Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) to homes eligible for Advanced Training Initiative (ATI) funding instructing them to complete the online application by Sept. 25th. The Department is implementing two years of the ATI program (2018/19 and 2019/20) simultaneously, meaning that homes must file a single application even if qualified for both years of funding.
ATI recipients are required to partner with an authorized training organization (LeadingAge NY, the New York State Health Facilities Association (NYSHFA), 1199 SEIU, Interact) to implement an approved training program whose primary focus is training certified nurse aides (CNAs) to identify early signs of resident decline. DOH prequalifies homes for eligibility based on their staff retention rates; only homes notified of eligibility should complete the application. Members who have been notified of eligibility can verify their ATI funding by multiplying their Medicaid days (fee-for-service (FFS) and managed care) by the per-day amounts shown in the DAL. If you have questions regarding the ATI training that LeadingAge NY offers, please contact Kathy Taylor at ktaylor@leadingageny.org or 518-867-8860. For general questions on the program, please contact me or email DOH directly at nfrates@health.ny.gov with “Advanced Training Initiative” in the subject line.
