State Responds to Federal Questions on $10 Billion MRT Waiver

DOH has filed written responses to a series of questions from the Centers for Medicare &  Medicaid Services (CMS), which is considering New York’s request for $10 billion over five years  through a Medicaid waiver extension. The state’s responses indicate that if federal approval is  granted, much of the waiver funding would be distributed through requests for grant  applications similar to the HEAL NY process.

Under the state’s waiver proposal, the $10 billion obtained from the federal government would  be invested in areas such as expanding supportive housing; helping nursing homes and assisted  living programs prepare for managed care; assisting vital access and safety net providers; and  promoting new care models. State officials hope to receive federal approval later this year.
