Survey Resources Available

The Department of Health (DOH) has shared some documents related to the Emergency Preparedness survey. The federal Emergency Preparedness regulations apply to 17 provider types, so the nursing home surveyor checklist that is provided is particularly helpful in focusing on the issues related to nursing home emergency preparedness. Members who have been surveyed under the new Emergency Preparedness regulations have indicated that the interview with the Administrator and/or other staff is taking in some cases up to four hours or more to complete. The contents of the 27-page checklist would tend to explain why the process is so lengthy.

Part of the DOH survey has also focused on the federal 1135 Waiver and facility knowledge of the Waiver, and also on policies and procedures related to legionellosis.
