NYC Announces Emergency Preparedness Resources for Continuum
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH) has announced that they will be restarting their Long Term Care Emergency Preparedness Offerings, the Long Term Care Exercise Program (LTCExP) and the Long Term Care Comprehensive Emergency Management Training and Technical Assistance Program (LTCCEMT/TA). Click here for more information on the Technical Assistance Program and here for more information on the Exercise Program. These programs are offered free of charge to NYC nursing home, adult care facility (ACF), home care, hospice, and palliative care providers. If you are interested in participating, be sure to register as soon as possible, as space is limited.
Additionally, NYC DOHMH is using Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) "strike team" funding to identify a vendor to provide services under the Long Term Care Facility and Congregate Settings Respiration Protection Program (RPP). Upon selection through a Request for Proposals (RFP) process, a vendor(s) will:
- Conduct an RPP needs assessment of long term care facilities (LTCFs) and other congregate settings (including nursing homes, ACFs, and group homes serving people with developmental disabilities)
- Develop customized RPP training plans tailored to the specific LTCF settings
- On an as-needed basis, provide consultation
- Provide mobile fit testing services for LTCF employees
- Conduct fit test train-the-trainer training
- On an as-needed basis, purchase and deliver respirator kits
LeadingAge NY members suggested this as a potential use for strike team funding, and we are pleased to see it come to fruition. We hope that this will be a helpful resource to NYC members in the near future. We will keep members apprised of developments with the RPP.
