DOH Implementing Multi-Factor Authentication for eFINDS, Decommissioning eFINDS Mobile App on Aug. 19th
(Aug. 6, 2024) LeadingAge NY would like to make sure that nursing home and adult care facility (ACF) members are aware of two recent Department of Health (DOH) announcements regarding the implementation of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for the Evacuation of Facilities in Disasters Systems (eFINDS) application and the decommissioning of the eFINDS mobile app. Both changes will take effect on Mon., Aug. 19, 2024.
From DOH:
MFA to be required to access eFINDS Application as of 8/19/24
The Health Commerce System (HCS) is implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) functionality for the Evacuation of Facilities in Disaster Systems (eFINDS) application. Multi-Factor Authentication adds an additional layer of security to the application to ensure security and compliance. Effective August 19, 2024 all eFINDS users will be required to use MFA to access the application on the HCS. Users will not be able to access eFINDS without setting up MFA. We strongly encourage all users to set up MFA as soon as possible to ensure continuity of access.
Users with or without a New York State drivers license or non-driver photo ID can set up their own MFA by following this link https://commerce.health.state.ny.us/doh2/applinks/comdir/mfaenrollment/ or by following the directions below:
- Log on to the Health Commerce System
- Click MFA Enrollment under My Applications on the HCS Home page
Step-by-step directions can be found here: https://bit.ly/userMFA
For questions and issues setting up MFA, please contact the Commerce Accounts Management Unit (CAMU) by phone: (866) 529-1890 or email camu@health.ny.gov
eFINDS Mobile Application for Apple and Android Decommissioned
As the technology for the eFINDS mobile application is outdated and can no longer be supported, a decision was also made to decommission the mobile application. As of August 19, 2024 the eFINDS mobile app will not be functional or available for use. In the future, features will be added to the eFINDS web application to enhance the mobile user experience. For users who have downloaded the eFINDS mobile application to their device, please uninstall the application using steps specific to your smart device.
Please also note that DOH is accepting registrations for five offerings of eFINDS training scheduled throughout the remainder of 2024. The next training will be held on Thurs., Aug. 22, 2024 from 10-11 a.m., with registration required at least two days in advance. Visit this page on the DOH LMS for more information.
