State Announces Webinar for Nursing Homes and ACFs on Medication Safety Assessment
The Department of Health (DOH) has scheduled a webinar for nursing homes and adult care facilities (ACFs) next month on the topic of Medication Safety Assessment. They welcome nursing home administrators, operators, directors of nursing, medical directors, directors of social work, and ACF staff including administrators and directors of resident services/patient services to participate.

The webinar will:
- Provide an overview of the IPRO Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) Medication Safety Assessment results;
- Review how Medicare beneficiaries experienced a higher rate of adverse drug events due to anticoagulants than for prescribed opioids;
- Discuss how more antipsychotic drugs were prescribed for nursing home residents, particularly on admission, than prior to the pandemic;
- Share how to safely manage high-risk medications such as anticoagulants, diabetes medications, antipsychotics, and antibiotics; and
- Provide information on important resources for your facility.
