Nursing Home Managed Care Transition Now Statewide

LeadingAge New York is reminding members that July 1, 2015 was the effective date for the mandatory enrollment of new, permanently placed nursing home residents on Medicaid into managed care in the “rest of State.”  This mandate has been in effect in the New York City area since Feb. 1, 2015 and in Long Island and Westchester since April 1, 2015.  With the July 1 date, the nursing home managed care mandate is now in place statewide.

LeadingAge NY has been providing members with necessary resources and educational sessions.  If you have not already done so, there are two important resources that you should keep as references: 1.) The Department of Health (DOH) Transition of Nursing Home Benefit and Population into Managed Care policy document; and 2.) An extensive series of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) augmenting the policy document.

Throughout this transition process we have been working with member on any issues or concerns that may arise, providing support and guidance; and advocating on issues with policymakers.  With the transition now statewide, it remains critically important that we continue to hear from you on how things are progressing.
