Nursing Home Cost Reports

The Department of Health (DOH) is indicating that Residential Health Care Facility (RHCF) Medicaid cost report software will be released in mid-May.  The reports and required certifications will be due in mid-August.  No major changes are anticipated in the software although DOH is signaling that they intend to be strict regarding the due date.  Late cost reports may result in a loss of points when the 2014 quality pool is calculated and will result in delays in capital rate calculation for the home.   

In their continuing efforts to reduce capital appeals, DOH intends to provide initial capital calculations to homes in September.  This will allow the state to offer two rounds of informal corrections prior to the rates being finalized.  More information on this schedule and a potential educational session on capital component calculation will be forthcoming.
