DOH Releases Special Medicaid Update

As detailed in a recent LeadingAge NY Intelligence article, the new ordering, prescribing, referring, and attending (OPRA) Medicaid claims edits will take effect on Jan. 1, 2014.  The new claims edits will require any prescribing professional (including MDs, nurse practioners, and physicians’ assistants) to be enrolled as a Medicaid provider in order for drugs, equipment, supplies and services to be reimbursed under the Medicaid Fee-for-Service program.

The Office of Health Insurance Programs of the New York State Department of Health has approved the release of the December 2013 Medicaid Update Special Edition containing a compilation of OPRA information, resources and links.  Members should refer to this update as a comprehensive OPRA resource.
