Urge Senators Gillibrand and Schumer to Support Section 202 in FFY 2024

Affordable senior housing providers and advocates are encouraged to reach out to their U.S. Senators and ask them to join a letter supporting strong investments in the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Section 202 program in federal fiscal year (FFY) 2024. New York advocates can reach Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer and ask them to join the letter via the U.S. Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121. To join the letter, the Senators’ offices should email alfie_feder@menendez.senate.gov by close of business April 3rd.

The letter, spearheaded by Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), is directed to the Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, HUD, and Related Agencies and urges “full funding for contract renewals for the Section 202 Housing for the Elderly program and an additional $600 million for capital advances and operating subsidies for new 202 homes to keep up with existing and increasing need.”
