While the wide-ranging housing policy bill does not invest new dollars into housing programs, it authorizes some new programs and reforms rules for a variety of existing housing programs.

HUD has stated that properties participating in certain HUD-assisted Multifamily Housing programs must comply with a new reverification directive. However, the necessary report has not been operational, and HUD has not communicated clearly with housing providers about next steps.

The new domestic materials sourcing requirements under “Build America, Buy America” have stalled affordable housing projects because of increased costs and time. LeadingAge supports a full exemption for affordable housing programs currently subject to the requirements.
