LeadingAge National to Host Members-Only HOTMA Policy Update Call Oct. 24th; New Resource Available from HUD

On Tues., Oct. 24th at 1 p.m. ET, LeadingAge National will host a policy update call on the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act (HOTMA).

HOTMA is a major new housing rule that impacts tenant rent calculations, recertifications, asset limits, and more. This policy call will cover recent compliance deadline changes issued by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in response to LeadingAge advocacy. LeadingAge National policy staff will also discuss outstanding questions from members to prioritize during future HOTMA trainings.

Please note that this is not an in-depth training, but rather a policy update call. LeadingAge housing providers can register for this members-only call here. Reach out to Juliana Bilowich (jbilowich@leadingage.org) with questions.

Additionally, as HUD moves forward with HOTMA implementation, the agency has provided a list of new or updated housing community policies required for multifamily housing (MFH) providers to comply with HOTMA. HUD’s chart is intended to make MFH owners aware of the policies they must set in their Tenant Selection Plans and Enterprise Income Verification (EIV) policies and procedures by March 31, 2024. HUD will provide timing updates as necessary and will update the chart with asset limit policy information once guidance is available.

The chart includes required policies that have both nondiscretionary and discretionary elements. Members can access the full chart here and more LeadingAge National HOTMA resources and information here.
