LAST CALL: Register for LeadingAge National’s Sept. 13th “HOTMA 2.0” Training

The Jan. 1st implementation date for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act (HOTMA) is fast approaching, and yet without final guidance from HUD, housing providers cannot appropriately complete September recertifications to be compliant in 2024.

While HUD has posted some materials for public housing authorities (PHAs) and even announced a partial delay on implementation of PHA-related elements of the HOTMA rule, there has been little information or relief for multifamily housing (MFH) providers like many of LeadingAge’s members.

That is why LeadingAge National is calling on HUD to make the necessary materials available for MFH providers as soon as possible, to at least partially delay HOTMA implementation requirements, and to improve communication with providers and residents about the changes.

In the meantime, LeadingAge National’s Juliana Bilowich and LeadingAge Florida’s Rhanda McKown will still host the “LeadingAge HOTMA 2.0 Virtual Training” on Wed., Sept. 13th from 2 to 4 p.m. to review what we do know and what we don’t know, and to dig into the weeds of the final rule related to income, deductions, and recertifications. As a reminder, this virtual training is free to LeadingAge members. Group registration for several attendees from the same organization is available here.
