June Meeting of LeadingAge Member Monthly Workgroup on HUD Compliance and Oversight Will Review HUD Proposed Changes to Accessibility Rules in Affordable Housing

LeadingAge National’s Member Monthly Workgroup on U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Compliance and Oversight will host a special call on Thurs., June 22nd to review and solicit member feedback on HUD’s existing regulations implementing Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

On April 25th, HUD announced its intention to update these regulations, which require accessibility features and prohibit disability discrimination in HUD-assisted housing. HUD’s Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking acknowledges the need to align HUD’s Section 504 regulations with environmental, societal, and technological advances and emerging issues, and asks for public comments on the existing regulations by July 24th.

LeadingAge National’s June 22nd workgroup call will examine the current regulations and allow members the opportunity to discuss and provide feedback that will inform the association’s comments to HUD. Members may reach out to Juliana Bilowich (jbilowich@leadingage.org) with advance questions or for more information on how to register for the workgroup.
