HUD Releases Funding for 160 New Service Coordination Programs

On Dec. 13th, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released funding for 160 new Service Coordination programs in affordable senior housing. LeadingAge’s national advocacy was instrumental in securing these funds for the much-anticipated expansion of HUD’s Service Coordination programs, which offer critical support to older adults with low incomes as they age in community, in part by referring those HUD-assisted residents to health and educational resources.

The Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) signals the first new funding for the Service Coordinators in Multifamily Housing program since 2013. Current Service Coordinators are funded by renewals from the agency, and there is a high demand for new funding. The deadline to apply for the NOFO is March 11, 2024.

Preliminary information is available from HUD here, with more details about the NOFO forthcoming. LeadingAge will work with members to apply for funding to add or expand vital Service Coordination programs at affordable senior housing communities. To get involved or to learn more, join LeadingAge’s Workgroup on Housing and Services, which meets on the second Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. ET, or reach out to Juliana Bilowich (jbilowich@leadingage.org).
