HUD Extends Section 202 NOFO Deadline

(June 18, 2024) As reflected on grants.gov, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has extended the application deadline for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to July 18th.

HUD announced the NOFO on Feb. 21st with an original application deadline of June 20th. The NOFO makes available $115 million for new Section 202 homes, including up to $35 million for intergenerational housing. However, while HUD has made available a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document relating to the intergenerational housing portion of the NOFO, the agency has yet to post an FAQ on the general NOFO.

LeadingAge and individual providers have posed questions to HUD about the NOFO. While LeadingAge is pleased that the application deadline has been extended in the absence of FAQ clarifications for potential applicants, the extension marks a short delay in building much-needed affordable senior homes.
