First Application Deadline Approaching for HUD Green Funding

First applications for the “Elements Awards” portion of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP) for assisted multifamily housing properties are due by midnight on June 29, 2023. While applications submitted after the deadline will be considered during three subsequent review periods, the agency is encouraging organizations to apply early.

In May, HUD published three Notices of Funding Opportunity (NOFOs) for the GRRP totaling $837.5 million in grant funding and $4 billion in loan authority for HUD-assisted multifamily housing properties. The “Elements Awards” target properties that already have rehabilitation underway and need gap financing to fund specific utility-efficient or resilient elements, while other funding buckets will address standalone and more comprehensive retrofits.
