HUD Updates: CSP FAQ and Notice Requirements for Evictions In response to advocacy from LeadingAge National, HUD is allowing key relief payment deadline flexibility for capital cost reimbursements due to COVID-19. HUD has also published a Notice requiring HUD-assisted owners and public housing agencies to provide no less than 30 days' advance notification of lease termination due to nonpayment of rent.

White House Seeks $2 Billion for New Section 202 Housing The White House is seeking $2 billion for HUD’s Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly program as part of its American Jobs Plan infrastructure proposal to Congress, according to a May 26th White House fact sheet.

HUD Requests More and Better Housing from Congress On May 28th, the White House sent its full FY 2022 budget request to Congress. Overall, the request seeks a 15.1 percent, or $9 billion, increase for HUD.

HUD Notifies Owners, Provides Resources on Inspection Restart As HUD significantly increases physical inspections, the agency has notified owners who can expect an inspection this calendar year. HUD will not require inspectors to be vaccinated but will require them to follow CDC guidelines for quarantining and testing if unvaccinated. HUD will also require inspectors to wear face shields when inspecting senior housing properties.
