Summary of the BIP Innovation Grants Results Meeting
On Sept. 22nd, the Department of Health (DOH) conducted a Balancing Incentive Program (BIP) Innovation Fund Grants results meeting. As we have previously reported, the BIP Innovation Fund Grants challenged providers to develop creative solutions to the long term care delivery system and enhance community-based long term services and supports (LTSS) for Medicaid beneficiaries in the state. Out of the 54 Innovation Fund Grants, we are pleased to announce that 15 of our LeadingAge NY and Adult Day Health Care Council (ADHCC) members received awards totaling over $10.2 million. According to DOH, the results of these projects will help develop long range plans and may make changes to the LTSS delivery system.
At the results meeting, four featured presentations were given 20 minutes, and five highlighted presentations were given 10 minutes to present an overview of their project; special features or highlights; any savings attributed to the grant; key components that could be replicated; whether the project was sustainable; recommendations/suggestions to share; and conclusions about how/why their grant award was put to good use.

The BIP Innovation Fund Grants results meeting demonstrated that innovation in LTSS is readily available when funding is available to test new models in long term care services and supports.
