Recording of May 5th Lunch and Learn Regarding Hospice in the ALP Available

(May 12, 2026) Last week, the Department of Health (DOH) provided an educational webinar about coordinated communication for hospice care in Assisted Living Programs (ALPs). The "Lunch and Learn" was presented by DOH in conjunction with association stakeholders including LeadingAge NY. This presentation was designed to help attendees understand the changes that were implemented to enable Medicaid-eligible ALP residents to access hospice care without having to give up either benefit. Click here for background on this issue, which LeadingAge NY has long been working on. The webinar reviewed the respective responsibilities of each provider.

The recorded presentation and associated materials are now available on DOH's Learning Management System (LMS) under course OALTC-594 – Hospice in the Assisted Living Program. LMS accounts are free, so you are encouraged to register for an account to access this and other recorded DOH educational programs. If you need any technical assistance navigating the LMS, please email ltcresidentialsurveysupport@health.ny.gov. We strongly urge both ALP and hospice members to review the recorded presentation and slides.

Members are encouraged to reach out with any questions as we work together to implement this important change.
