David J. Gentner, President/CEO, Wartburg, Mount Vernon
An adult care executive, Mr. David J. Gentner, MPA, NHA, CASP has been at the Wartburg in Mt. Vernon, New York since 2004. He previously served as Vice President, Health Services and became Chief Operating Officer in 2006 and Interim President Chief Executive Officer in 2010. In his current position as President and CEO, Mr. Gentner has positioned the Wartburg for unprecedented growth with the opening of new state-of-the-art facilities for Rehabilitation and Friedrichs Adult Housing.
Mr. Gentner has dedicated his career to the care and well-being of older adults. In 2005 he was awarded the New York Association of Homes & Services for the Aging (NYAHSA)’s* Thomas Clarke Memorial Award for personal integrity and professional dedication in an administrator under 40. In the same year he was named the American College of Health Care Administrator (ACHCA)’s New Administrator of the Year.
Most recently, Mr. Gentner was in the American Association of Homes & Services for the Aging (AAHSA) Leadership Academy Class of 2010. Prior to joining The Wartburg, he was President and CEO of Grace Manor Health Care Facility Inc. in Buffalo, New York. Mr. Gentner is a licensed nursing home administrator in three states. He holds a Master’s in Public Administration from SUNY College at Brockport and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from SUNY Empire State College.
