Urge Congress to Oppose Implementation of Federal Nursing Home Staffing Standards!

In response to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) proposed nursing home staffing mandates, Congress has introduced the Protecting Rural Seniors Access to Care Act (HR 5796). While the bill title pointedly speaks to the circumstances of rural providers, in effect, this bill would prevent the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from implementing the out-of-touch proposed staffing rule. It would also require annual analysis and recommendations by a new advisory committee on the nursing home workforce shortage. The bill currently has one co-sponsor from NY, Claudia Tenney, in the House of Representatives and no Senate companion bill.
