LeadingAge NY Workforce Task Force Seeks Input from Members

LeadingAge NY members and staff are meeting regularly to revisit and revise member challenges and solutions to long term care workforce issues across the continuum. We have great cross-provider member participation in the effort representing all areas of the state.

The task force spent its first meeting focused on current and longstanding workforce challenges to get an up-to-date picture on the subject. Our second meeting focused on regulatory changes and funding incentives to help streamline hiring and training of workers and attract new workers to long term care. Further work will entail translating some of our goals into advocacy items to further regulatory initiatives, as well as budget and legislative asks. The group will also spend some significant time rethinking best practices for attracting, hiring, and retaining workers.

We urge all members to provide us with input on the current challenges you are facing, as well as any suggested solutions. Several of our workforce priorities can be found here and here, which offer a starting point to work from. Please reach out to Meg Everett at meverett@leadingageny.org or 518-929-9342 to learn more or offer your input.
