Governor Announces Awardees of Health Care Workers for Our Future Scholarship Program

(Aug. 27, 2024) On Aug. 26th, Governor Hochul announced the awardees of the Health Care Workers for Our Future Scholarship program. The opportunity was launched back in May 2024. The program provides a two-year, full-ride scholarship to up to 500 selected recipients and covers tuition, room and board, and other related expenses at an approved NYS public or private college or university in a variety of areas of study, including a bachelor's or associate degree to become a Registered Nurse (RN) or Respiratory Therapist.

Recipients of the scholarship must agree to live in NYS and to work in an underserved area in NYS as RNs, Respiratory Therapists, Clinical Laboratory Technologists, Radiologic Technologists, or Surgical Technologists for two years upon graduation, ensuring that the most critical health care services reach those who need them the most.

The NYS Health Care Workers for Our Future Scholarship is one of several scholarships available in NYS. For information on additional grants, scholarships, and loan forgiveness programs, visit the NYS Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) website.
