LeadingAge NY Working on Several Fronts to Address Workforce Shortages

In the past week, LeadingAge NY has written to the Governor's Secretary for Health and the DOH Executive Deputy Commissioner on staffing issues, presented to the Public Health and Health Planning Council, and reached out to high-level DOH staff about federal strike team and infrastructure project funding for nursing homes. LeadingAge NY is also convening a joint cabinet workforce task force.

Employers Now Banned from Asking Prospective Hires About Salary History

Effective Jan. 6, 2020, employers are prohibited from asking job applicants about their past salary, compensation, or benefits and from relying on salary history to determine pay rates. Employers may ask applicants for their salary expectations for the position, instead of asking what they earned in the past.
