NYS MPA Team Continues Community Engagement Efforts
The NYS Department of Health (DOH) and Office for the Aging (SOFA) have announced registration details for the next two in a series of Master Plan for Aging (MPA) community engagement events being held across the state. The Listening Sessions will be held on Thurs., Nov. 9th in Johnson City (Binghamton) and on Mon., Nov. 20th in Utica, and will be broadcast live to allow for greater participation.
Registration is required for these events:
- The Johnson City (Binghamton) Listening Session is scheduled for Nov. 9th from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Johnson City Senior Center. Register to attend in person or to view live online.
- The Utica Listening Session is scheduled for Nov. 20th from 1-2:30 p.m. in Wilcox Hall on the Mohawk Valley Community College campus. Register to attend in person or to view live online.
The public engagement sessions are designed for the State to provide information to and receive input from local communities on the MPA to help inform the ongoing development of issue-focused stakeholder recommendations. Final recommendations for the Governor’s consideration will be submitted in 2024, and the Governor is expected to issue the final MPA in early 2025.
Additionally, DOH and SOFA are asking for feedback via a statewide public survey to help shape the strategies and priorities of the MPA. Members are encouraged to complete the survey prior to the Dec. 31st deadline and to share widely among their staff, residents and families, and community networks to help ensure that the final MPA reflects and serves their needs.
Take the survey online, and find PDF versions of the survey in multiple languages here. Alternatively, those requiring bulk mailing of paper copies should reach out to MPA@health.ny.gov and specify their preferred language.
