Master Plan for Aging Workgroups Wind Down Work; Advisory Report of Recommendations Due Later This Year
The NYS Master Plan for Aging (MPA) issue-focused workgroups have begun wrapping up their work and will soon pass their recommendations to the Stakeholder Advisory Committee and State Agency Council for review and compilation into a final advisory report to be submitted for Governor Hochul’s consideration. The final MPA, based on the advisory report, is expected to be adopted by the Governor in early 2025.
The workgroups, which have been meeting weekly or biweekly over the past year, are now completing a wind-down brainstorming process to refine the recommendations they have developed and to allow participants the opportunity to submit and discuss any additional proposals that would address the goals identified for their issue area. During this brainstorming process, the groups are also reviewing relevant suggestions received from the public during community engagement events hosted by the NYS Department of Health (DOH) and Office for the Aging (SOFA) across the state.
As the workgroups complete their work, the overarching subcommittees and Stakeholder Advisory Committee will continue to meet intermittently to assemble the resulting recommendations into the final advisory report, expected this summer. Additionally, a meeting of the Association Resource Committee, including LeadingAge NY and other state associations, is anticipated this spring.

LeadingAge NY staff will continue to participate in the MPA process and advocate for member priorities to the greatest extent possible, monitor the progress of the MPA, and share updates as they become available.
