Associations engaged with New York’s aging communities and their families were called together by State officials on March 6^th to learn more about their role in developing a comprehensive Master Plan for Aging.

The New York State Master Plan for Aging Stakeholder Advisory Committee held its second meeting on Feb. 22^nd to explore potential paths forward and define achievable goals within the framework laid out by the Executive.

Dozens of experts, practitioners, and State officials gathered on Jan. 9^th for the first meeting of a stakeholder advisory committee with a goal of drafting its recommendations by early 2024.

LeadingAge NY will work to ensure that its advocacy priorities are included in the Plan; members will also have opportunity for engagement.

The new Office has been created as part of a broader reorganization that also includes the creation of an Office of Health Equity and Human Rights and the integration of regional offices into the Office of Public Health.

The half-day virtual summit covered a variety of issues to be addressed in the Master Plan, including age-friendly health systems, accessible communities, public health, housing, rural challenges, and technology.
