Latest Updates from LeadingAge National on Federal Budget Reconciliation
(June 10, 2025) As the federal budget reconciliation process continues to evolve, LeadingAge National is providing ongoing updates and resources to keep members informed and engaged in advocacy efforts. Last week, they released a new set of materials summarizing the implications of H.R. 1, One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB), and requesting specific changes to certain policies.
New Resources from LeadingAge National:
To support outreach to members of Congress, the following materials and talking points are now available:
- General Medicaid Talking Points and Requests: H.R. 1 Medicaid
- Medicaid Retroactive Eligibility Talking Points: H.R. 1 Medicaid Retroactive Eligibility
- Affordable Housing Talking Points: H.R. 1 Affordable Housing
- Tax Policy Talking Points: H.R. 1 Tax Provisions
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) Talking Points: H.R. 1 AI
Summaries of key provisions of H.R. 1 and the latest updates on the budget reconciliation process can be tracked in this budget reconciliation serial post.
LeadingAge National is urging a “no” vote on H.R. 1 in the Senate. The above suite of new materials was created to explain the rationale for this position and to provide members with talking points on the OBBB impacts. In addition to the talking points, LeadingAge National has included specific asks for changes, as the association both opposes the bill and at the same time wants to mitigate the negative impacts on older adults and those who serve them.
In addition, the June 9th LeadingAge National Policy Pulse member call covered H.R. 1, the latest updates on the process, as well as substantive requests and arguments to make the legislation less harmful to aging services providers, state budgets, and health care economies.
Lastly, members are encouraged to regularly visit LeadingAge National’s Action Center to easily contact elected officials and stay engaged on the latest advocacy action items.
