Free Webinar on Executive Orders and DEI – What Members Need to Know

(March 21, 2025) As reported by LeadingAge, Executive Order (EO) #14173, Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity, signed by President Trump on Jan. 21, 2025, and published in the Federal Register 10 days later, repeals the 1965 EO #11246 on affirmative action plans and equal employment opportunity and creates new obligations for recipients of federal grant money related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) activities. These and other developments have created confusion and many questions, and LeadingAge NY members should be aware of how to proceed with this important work.

The LeadingAge NY Diversity Committee is proud to sponsor a FREE one-hour webinar that will address the specific EOs and how they impact long-term care providers in NY.

Join us April 17th at 11 a.m. and hear from attorneys James Paretti and Devjani Mishra from Littler, a labor and employment law firm, on this issue. This session is intended to provide expert insight and help members understand the current landscape of DEI. Attendees can expect to learn what the EOs say, the role of the federal courts, which actions may be illegal, and the impact on federal funding. Those in attendance can also expect to hear recommendations regarding responding to the EOs, followed by a question-and-answer period. All LeadingAge NY members are encouraged to attend.
