DataPoint: Top 10 Nursing Home Deficiencies

A regional analysis of most freqently cited nursing home deficiencies finds little consistency across the State's seven regions. Statewide, four deficiencies account for 20 percent of all health deficiencies cited during periodic health surveys; food safety, infection control, accident prevention and following plans of care. However, a number of top 10 regional deficiencies do not make it to the top 10 list in other regions. Half of the Buffalo top 10 did not coincide with most frequently cited deficiencies statewide. The analysis is based on health surveys performed in the 15 month period ending November 2014. The top 10 listing is available here.
