DataPoint: Rehab Utilization, 2018

Based on LeadingAge NY analysis of the recently released Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) 2018 Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Provider Utilization and Payment Public Use Files (PUF), Ultra-High rehabilitation categories represented 61.3 percent of all Medicare Fee-for-Service (FFS) Resource Utilization Group (RUG) days nationwide, up from 59.8 percent in 2017. Ultra-High rehabilitation utilization for New York State providers represented 68.2 percent of RUG days, up from 65.9 percent in 2017. New York State’s Ultra-High rehab utilization ranked third nationally, accounting for 8.1 percent of Ultra-High days nationwide.
