DataPoint: Nursing Home Census
Based on LeadingAge NY's analysis of the most recent nursing home weekly bed availability reporting data, median statewide occupancy is 94.7 percent, up from 94.4 percent in December 2017 and 94.0 percent in December 2016. Four regions saw median occupancy increases since December 2017, while two remained the same and only the Central New York region declined. The New York City region’s occupancy of 96.0 percent was the highest statewide, followed by the Northeast New York region, which ranked second with 95.7 percent. The Buffalo region, in contrast, had the lowest occupancy at 92.5 percent. The occupancy rate for each New York State home is available here, and median occupancy rates by county are available here.
