DataPoint: New Assisted Living Data Released
The Long-Term Care Statistics Branch posted residential care community-specific state web tables and data briefs, using data from the first wave of the National Study of Long-Term Care Providers (NSLTCP) conducted in 2012. NSLTCP is a new initiative to provide reliable, accurate, relevant and timely statistical information to support and inform long-term care services policy, research and practice.
In New York, 54 percent of providers are for-profit, compared to a percentage of 78 nationwide. In the U.S., 59 percent of providers are chain-based, while the rate is 48 percent in New York. The posting includes state tables showing provider and resident characteristics. The data briefs are available here.
